Title:  John Edward Gray papers, 1783-1884
 Dates:  1783-1884
Abstract:  The John Gray Collection contains correspondence, most of which is incoming and addressed to John Gray or his wife. The collection is fairly large and its chronology ranges from the early nineteenth century until the 1880s. Most of the correspondence is to and from Britons, but there is some correspondence from prominent American scientists and natural historians. John Gray was a natural historian active at the British Museum of Natural History, serving from 1840-1874 as keeper of the Zoological Department. MOLE contains a very detailed inventory.
